Reuven SDC Outage Affects Aeroton and Surrounding Areas in Johannesburg

05 January 2025 | Aeroton, Johannesburg

Parts of Aeroton and surrounding areas were left in the dark earlier today due to a power outage stemming from an incident at the Showground Switching Station. The outage, reported on Sunday morning, has prompted immediate action from Reuven SDC operators to determine the root cause and restore power to the affected regions.

According to Reuven SDC, the power supply tripped unexpectedly, impacting local residents and businesses relying on the Aeroton Standby distributor. The cause of the outage remains unknown at this stage, but the company has assured customers that operators have been notified and are en route to investigate and resolve the situation promptly.

In a brief statement, Reuven SDC apologised for the disruption caused to residents and businesses, acknowledging the inconvenience of the unplanned outage. Affected customers have been promised timely updates as developments unfold.

The Showground Switching Station is a critical component of the electricity grid in the area, making the rapid resolution of such issues crucial for maintaining stability in power distribution.

Reuven SDC urges affected customers to remain patient while the investigation is underway. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions to prevent potential damage to electrical appliances when the power is restored.
