Durban, South Africa – Severe weather conditions have caused widespread power outages across numerous parts of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Eskom announced today.
The power utility reported that strong storms have disrupted electricity supply to several areas, leaving residents in the dark.
The affected areas include:
- Eshowe

- Nkandia
- Stanger
- Berguile
- Estcourt
- Glencoe
- Osiszweni

Eskom has dispatched technical teams to address the outages. However, the company warned that due to the extent of the damage and the continuing inclement weather, restoration times are expected to be longer than usual. Customers are urged to be patient while crews work to restore power.
“Technical teams are attending to the outages, but customers are requested to remain patient as the nature of the damage and the weather conditions are likely to lead to longer restoration times,” Eskom stated in a media release.
Eskom also issued a safety warning to the public, urging them to stay clear of any fallen power lines or damaged electrical infrastructure. They emphasized the importance of reporting dangerous situations to local authorities or directly to Eskom.
